Instructions for the use of the Resource Center Search Page

Enter the name of the building in the top box and click "Find", then select from the resulting choice(s). For example type "aerospace" and click “Find”. Aerospace Research Lab appears in the box. Select or highlight it, then click on the "Search Drawings" button. If you are looking for a specification, report, study, or other bound publication, use the "Search Specs" button instead.

Note that official facility names are used, so typing in “Miller Center” will not locate “Faulkner House”, which is the name of the building which houses the “Miller Center of Public Affairs”. In these situations, use “Keyword Search” to find something by means other than the Building Name. On the page that appears after you press the “Keyword Search” button, type in the word or words that you are interested in (do not use any punctuation), and select which parts of the database to search for this word, (Set Title, A & E firm…). Then click “Search Drawings” or “Search Specs”.

The list that will result is arranged chronologically, with the most recent date at the bottom. This is the most complete result, though it means more reading and sifting, you won’t inadvertently miss any entries. You can also type variations and abbreviations to see if any more entries appear. ‘Not sure which set of drawings has the relevant information? Click on the barcode number of a drawing set to see the list of sheet titles and comments in the set.

Lastly, viewing the drawings (electronically or in person) must be done through our office. When you have identified a list of drawings you are interested in seeing, please include the following information: the building name or number, the barcode number of the set, and the sheet numbers or barcodes, then e-mail, call, or visit us.

P.S. If the results list seems too long to go through, remember you can (type Ctrl+F, or) click the Edit button on the tool bar, for the drop down menu that lists "Find (on this page)". The empty box that appears can be filled in with another word to limit the search. For example: Type “Central Grounds”, which gives us a long list to sort through. Click “Edit”, “Find (on this page)”, and type "Trees" or "Chilled Water" in the box. The Search Tool will highlight only those words in the entries on the page.
